Here's a picture (via CNN) of US soldiers guarding a voter registration office in Kabul. Red Ted would have you believe that the only reason we are in Afghanistan is to help some shadowy company like Halliburton build an oil pipeline. You know, the one he heard about from some villager. A pipeline that would have been a lot easier to build if the Taliban had been kept in power. As bad as they were, and considering they let alQueda turn their country into one big terrorist training camp, they did keep the countryside somewhat controlled through a liberal sprinkling of public executions.
But here it is, a picture of US soldiers keeping a voter registration office protected, so that voters can register and eventually vote, for the very first time in, well, ever.
US soldiers on guard. You know, the guys that Ted thinks he's as brave as because after all, he was in Afghanistan as a Cartoonist. Everyone knows how rough it is to be a cartoonist.
During wartime.
Just ask Micah Wright.
Heck, it's rough over here in the US being a cartoonist. Why, I had to walk 2 blocks today to get a pepsi!
The guy's brave because he was"in Afghanistan as a cartoonist".
Puh-leeze.

Rall really is an ass. Unocal wanted to build a gas pipeline to get gas from Turkmenistan to India. The oil is around the Caspian and the pipeline runs westward to the Black Sea / Mediterranean.I know the guys who built the one to Ceyhan and they've been working on it since 1992. Or maybe across Iran to the Gulf as an alternative route. Saying that Afghanistan is all about oil is not just untrue, it's asinine. Just look at a map. There's no oil that you want to run through that country.

The question is who is the bigger asshat: Wright or Rall? That would be quite an on-line poll.
Hope you had a great Cinco de Mayo! :)
And thanks for your service to our country!

US soldiers have no business guarding a foreign countrys' voting places-they should do it themselves, to the best-or worst-of their abilitiesz.

US Soldiers have no business? Idiot. They have broken the army of that place, of course it's their business to guard the polls.

Thanks for the great picture. Now that's a great reason to point a gun at someone.
